Solar Giveaway

We are thrilled to announce our Solar Giveaway program, aimed at empowering special organisations like yours with sustainable energy solutions.

SunWorks is proud to announce that t 2026 Solar Giveaway is made possible with the support of Benest Estates. Thanks to their sponsorship, this year’s initiative is bigger than ever, with one Jersey charity or community organisation set to receive a solar installation worth up to £30,000. Islanders are now invited to apply for the chance to power their operations with renewable energy, reduce long-term costs, and make an even greater impact in the community.

To participate, please check the eligibility criteria and fill out your application below.

Eligibility Criteria

Thank you for your interest in the SunWorks Solar Installation Giveaway! To ensure that the selected recipient can fully benefit from the solar installation, we have established specific eligibility criteria. Please review the following requirements before submitting your application:

  1. Location: The charity or community initiative must be located within Jersey.
  2. Legal Status: The organisation must be a registered charity or a recognised community initiative with a clear mission statement.
  3. Roof Area: The property where the solar installation will be installed must have a suitable roof area for solar panel placement. The roof must be structurally sound and capable of supporting the installation. SunWorks will assist in assessing your roof space(s).
  4. Ownership: The organisation must own the property where the solar installation will be installed or have written permission by the end of the shortlisting process from the property owner to proceed with the installation. Those without freehold rights or written approval will not be eligible for the final voting.
  5. Covenants and Listing Issues: There should be no restrictive covenants, legal restrictions, or listing issues that would hinder the installation of solar panels on the property. Any areas which are deemed as being at questionable should have written approval from the relevant government department, building association or similar to ensure the solar is permissible for installation.
  6. Electrical systems: Properties should have electrical distribution systems that meet a reasonable standard and are ‘fit for purpose.’ This includes particular attention to the main distribution board and any components in contact with electricity. Properties with sub-standard electrical systems must update them at their own expense.
  7. Public Visibility: The organisation must be willing to participate in promotional activities related to the Solar Installation Giveaway, including media coverage and social media promotion, to include publication of their current and future energy consumption and solar production figures.
  8. In the event that no submissions are considered to meet the eligibility criteria, SunWorks reserves the right to carry forward this offer to a future period.

Please note that meeting these eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection as the recipient of the solar installation.  Solar installations will in themselves be subject to our normal Terms and Conditions

Judging Criteria

Eligible submissions will be shortlisted based on a range of practical and site-specific factors, including roof size, structural suitability, orientation, and overall potential for solar generation. Shortlisted applications will then be put to a public vote. Please note that judging is not based on the nature or merit of the organisation’s work; we recognise and value the incredible contribution all charities and community groups make across the island. Feedback will be provided to all applicants, and those not selected are warmly encouraged to apply again in future years.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 30th June.
